For years Canford Cliffs Hotel pictured here in 1930, stood proud on the top on the cliffs overlooking the Dorset coastline, a popular destination of locals and visitors alike.
Sadly, this beautiful hotel was destroyed on April 10, 1941 in an air raid and the main building could not be saved.
The stables to the rear of the property survived and were turned into a public house, this expanded over the years, previously the Nightjar Inn and at present The Cliff.
The rest of the site was redeveloped to hold residential buildings and for a time the home to the Corfe Mullen Lawn Tennis Club.
In 1975 new management meant the closing of the tennis club with the two courts becoming the car park for the Nightjar Inn.
