A PROPOSAL to increase the indoor seating space at a bar in Poole have been given the green light by council planners.
Star Pubs & Bars sought permission to build a new glazed garden room at Penn Central in Penn Hill Avenue.
The application is to extend the building further into an area currently used as an outdoor seating area.
A report by BCP Council planning officer Claire Moir said the proposal’s move to internalise part of the site could see a reduction in external noise levels.
Ms Moir’s report added: “The proposals will enhance the facilities at an existing pub/restaurant in a manner which preserves and complements its existing appearance and therefore the character and appearance of the street scene and setting of the adjacent conservation area.”
As reported, Penn Central is set to remain closed until May due to a £35,000 refurbishment project and the arrival of a new landlord.
The bar’s long-serving landlord Ben Manners was told to leave at the end of January.
Heineken-owned Star Pubs & Bars spokesperson said the venue will reopen with a new name.
