A MAN from Bournemouth has been handed a financial penalty by the courts for littering a cigarette in Bristol.
Wayne Cole, aged 31 and of Maclean Road, Bournemouth, was accused of throwing down, dropping or otherwise depositing litter and leaving it in The Horsefair opposite Café Nero on June 14 last year.
He was prosecuted by Bristol City Council and the matter was dealt with through the single justice procedure at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court.
A lone magistrate sitting in a closed doors court session on March 7, which Cole was not required to attend, found the case proved against the defendant.
He was fined £220 and ordered to pay a £34 surcharge and £150 costs.
