A TEENAGE girl has suffered ‘significant injuries’ following an assault in the town centre. 

Detectives have said that they are “continuing to investigate” the alleged assault in Bournemouth town centre and are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

Dorset Police received a report of a disturbance involving a group of teenagers in The Square at around 10pm on Friday, February 11. 

Officers attended and it was reported that a 15-year-old girl had been assaulted and sustained facial injuries.

She subsequently attended hospital and requires ongoing treatment as a result of the injuries she sustained.

Detective Constable Jon Siebert, of Bournemouth CID, said: “The victim in this case suffered significant injuries and we are continuing to investigate the matter.

“I appreciate the incident was some time ago, but we have now been able to obtain further details from the victim.

“I understand there were a number of people in the area at the time and I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the assault, or who may have captured anything relevant on mobile phone footage, to please come forward.”
