A POOLE man has been handed a court bill of more than £400 for littering a cigarette in Devon.
Danny Bird was alleged to have thrown down a rolled up cigarette and left it in Torbay Road, Paignton, on August 13 last year.
The 29-year-old was prosecuted by Torbay Council, with the case dealt with at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court on March 1.
Bird, whose address was given as Hobbs Road, Poole, was not present in court and did not enter a plea to the charge, which was proved against him under the single justice procedure.
A lone magistrate issued a £220 fine, along with an order to pay a £34 surcharge and £150 costs.
