A MAN has been arrested in connection with a robbery in which a driver was dragged from a vehicle and hit on the head with a baseball bat.

A passenger was also hit in the face and legs with the bat during the incident in Sea Road, Boscombe, between 8.30pm and 9.10pm on Thursday, March 10.

The driver, a man aged in his 40s, was travelling along the road when he saw a man he recognised called ‘Andy’ walking near to Sea Road Food and Wine.

He turned his van around and pulled up to allow him to get into the front passenger seat so they could talk before the attack took place.

Two offenders then reportedly hit the victim while making demands for money.

The victim’s mobile phone and wallet containing a debit card and £80 in cash was reportedly stolen from the van.

A 28-year-old Bournemouth man has been arrested on suspicion of robbery and released on police bail.

Detectives are continuing to make enquiries into the incident, including making efforts to identify the second victim.
