A SECTION of the A35 undergoing roadworks has reopened for the weekend, as Morebus complains it had no “prior warning”.

It is understood BCP Council highways authorities reopened Christchurch Road, from Parkwood Road to Seabourne Road, in Boscombe on Friday ahead of the weekend.

However, a tweet from bus operator Morebus suggests the decision was made without their knowledge. A spokesperson said: “Due to BCP opening the Christchurch Road for the weekend without any prior warning, we are returning to normal route in Pokesdown until 06.00 on Monday March 21.

“We are so sorry if you have been left stood in the wrong place waiting for a bus due to this turn of events.”

At the time of this article being published, BCP Council had not released any information about the road reopening for the weekend on any of its social media channels.

Morebus managing director Andrew Wickham told the Echo: “We accept that roads sometimes have to close, especially for re-surfacing as there’s no other way it could be done. We enjoy a good relationship with BCP on highway matters and also on these closures and sought to clarify as much detail of possible so we could advise passengers where to wait for their bus.

“Unfortunately, we weren’t told that the works were being cleared for this weekend ahead of the reopening and will be discussing this with BCP next week.”

The closures have been because of major road resurfacing works in and around Boscombe since February.
