A BRAND new shed has been installed and new tracks have been laid as progress continues at the Poole Park Railway.

The works are not expected to be finished before April, however BCP Council’s portfolio holder for environment and place said it was great to see progress being made.

Councillor Mark Anderson said: “It is great to see the progress being made at Poole Park Railway, despite our contractors facing some unforeseen setbacks such as Storm Eunice.

“There is, of course, still a lot of work to be done, but it was great to see the improvements being made when I visited last week. The brand-new track has started to be laid, and the new Engine Shed looks fantastic.

“We look forward to reopening Poole Park Railway later this year.”

A public information event in December saw residents able to have a look at the plans, meet the contractor and speak with the main people involved.

The budget for the project is £480,000.

A council spokesperson said this exercise for the rolling stock will see one electric engine and two carriages procured, at present.

One of the carriages will be accessible to wheelchairs and also have a roof, the council said.
