A HOTEL is looking to offer jobs to Ukrainian refugees once they become settled in the area.

Family-owned Hotel Miramar in Bournemouth is hoping to contact local charities and agencies who will be supporting Ukrainians once the governments resettlement scheme is fully operating.

Theo Iakimov, general manager at the hotel said that he is confident other hoteliers, and the hospitality sector generally, will welcome new workers with open arms.

He said: “There are already measures being taken at a national level to offer paid employment. Large companies such as M&S, ASOS and Lush are hoping to offer new opportunities, and at a local level I am sure many employers will also be happy to help.

“Many Ukrainians will have left good jobs as well as their homes and family. If the government can support such initiatives by helping with the right to work visas etc., then I am confident that there will be genuine job offers to help them get back on their feet.

“We need staff, and the refugees will need a sense of normality.  If we can make it happen it will be our small way of making them feel welcome and helping them find some peace and stability.”
