CONTRACTORS have continued their work replacing four groynes at Bournemouth beach.

Suttle Projects has published footage of the work to renew the groynes from the boundary of Bournemouth and Poole to the West Cliff zig-zag.

A spokesperson said: “It was the second phase of a two year programme from BCP Council to renew eight timber groynes from the boundary of Poole/Bournemouth to West Cliff zig-zag.

“This second phase involved replacing four of the groynes, the first four had already been done by Suttle Projects the year before.

“The piling for the groynes had been completed before the site visit, but here you can see our team of site operatives carrying out the next stage; planking.

“Planking is the process of using timber planks to build the structure of the new groyne.

“Meanwhile the excavators keep the sand and sea out of the way so this can be done safely and efficiently.”
