Bournemouth man given hefty court bill for speeding on M23
A BOURNEMOUTH man has received a hefty court bill for speeding near Crawley.
Richard Smiles, 41, of Browning Avenue, Bournemouth, pleaded guilty to exceeding the 70mph limit on the M23 on July 13, 2021.
Miles was not present in Brighton Magistrates’ Court when he was sentenced on Thursday, March 10.
Court papers state the defendant was driving a BMW on the motorway when he was caught in excess of the 70mph limit.
Magistrates fined him £500 and ordered him to pay a £50 victim surcharge.
He was also ordered to pay costs of £90 and had his driving record endorsed with five points.
