A DRIVER was arrested after testing positive for cocaine when stopped by police.

Officers from the Dorset Traffic Cops stopped the Mercedes on Sunday.

A spokesperson said: “Officers spotted the Mercedes in the Bournemouth area where information indicated the driver may be under the influence of drugs.

“We stopped the vehicle and the information was correct with the driver testing positive for cocaine.

“They were arrested and taken to custody where they provided bloods and we await the results.

“On the way back to base, we spied a Skoda parked very poorly, unattended and locked but with hazard lights on.

“We took our time gathering information and completing our report but after 10 minutes the driver hadn’t returned.

“A quick call got their attention where they returned and received a fixed penalty report for £100 and three points.

“This last offence may seem trivial but the crossing was busy throughout our time there with the view of approaching vehicles significantly obstructed.

“This really raises the risk of a collision, which has proven fatal in similar circumstances.”
