A RARE charger plate made by Poole Pottery that features a flying boat landing in Poole Habour has emerged for sale.
The 15ins wide plate was created in 1941 when BOAC operated seaplanes in Poole Harbour.
The popular flying boats used to take off and land on Southampton Water but due to the threat of German air raids on the city in the Second World War the service relocated further along the coast.
The colourful charger was designed by potter Arthur Bradbury and painted by artist Ruth Pavely.
The design shows the castle at Brownsea Island and the Purbeck hills in the background and a wooden tender sailing towards a seaplane to pick up its passengers.
The charger has a pre-sale estimate of £4,000 and will be sold by Wooley and Wallis auctioneers of Salisbury.
It will go up for auction on Wednesday, March 16.
