DETECTIVES investigating a fatal stabbing in Bournemouth town centre have been given more time to question a teenage boy who was arrested on suspicion of murder.

Tom Roberts, 21, died in hospital following the incident outside Subway in Old Christchurch Road on the morning of Saturday, March 12.

Overnight on Saturday, Dorset Police said a 16-year-old boy had been arrested in connection with their ongoing enquiries.

Providing an update this afternoon, a Dorset Police spokeswoman said: “On the morning of Monday, March 14, officers attended Poole Magistrates’ Court to request an extension to question a 16-year-old boy on suspicion of murder.

"They were granted additional time by the court to detain the suspect while the investigation continues."

As reported, a police cordon remains in place around Horseshoe Common today, with a large uniformed police officer presence and multiple marked police cars around the green space.

Officers issued a CCTV for a potential witness on Sunday morning. Later that day, a force spokesperson said a male had come forward and was assisting detectives with their enquiries.
