OFFICERS from the Dorset Traffic Cops had a weekend of dealing with crashes, including a driver arrested for drink driving.

Officers began a busy weekend shift on Saturday with the sighting of a stolen vehicle on the A31.

A spokesperson for the team said: “We monitored this vehicle and gathered our resources in case the driver didn’t want to stop but did so at Bere Regis.

“After a few enquiries we found all was in order and the driver continued their journey.

“We then spent time on the northbound A338 Spur Road investigating and clearing this single vehicle collision.

“Again thankfully no one was seriously hurt but we had to take time to clear up where it became apparent drivers were far from slowing down passing the scene.

“The late team ended this tour assisting Bournemouth Police with this single vehicle collision in Christchurch.

“The driver found within the van unable to get out due to their adventure into the foliage failed a roadside breath test and was arrested as a result.

“That driver later provided evidential samples over three times the drink drive limit and will be attending a court in the near future.”
