VANDALS who smashed up an old red telephone box may have returned to inflict further damage, Sherborne Police say.

An incident of vandalism to the telephone box at Fosters Hill, Holwell was reported to Sherborne Neighbourhood Policing Team at the end of February.

Fortunately, BT made a very quick repair of the two glass panels that were broken, according to the force. However police believe there has recently been a further attempt to damage it - while a nearby community notice board also appears to have been targeted.

"Unfortunately, the glass in the adjacent parish council notice board has been damaged by what appears to be a stone within the past couple of days," said a spokesperson for Sherborne Police.

"It is conceivable that a stone could have been thrown up from the road by a passing vehicle, however, there are also footprints on the repaired glass of the telephone box indicated that someone has tried to damage them by kicking."
