A NUMBER of cats have been removed from a Christchurch address following a joint operation between Dorset Police and the RSPCA after animal “welfare concerns” were raised.
On Tuesday, March 8, Dorset Police officers executed a warrant search with the assistance of the RSPCA at an address in the Friars Cliff area after concerns were made for the welfare of several cats at the property.
A police spokesperson said: “As a result of this a number of animals were seized. The investigation is now being led by the RSPCA, no arrests were made by Dorset Police.”
An RSPCA spokesperson told the Echo: "On March 8 a warrant was executed by Dorset Police, supported by the RSPCA, at an address in Christchurch, following welfare concerns for animals at the property.
“A number of cats have been removed from the address by police and are now in RSPCA care.
“As the investigation is currently ongoing, we are unable to comment further at this time.”
The nearest RSPCA rescue centre to Christchurch is located in Ashley Heath, Dorset.
