UNIQUE selections of artwork and Chinese porcelain are expected to sell for upwards of £70,000 when they go under the auctioneer’s hammer.
Two collections, one of modern art pictures and the other of Chinese/Japanese porcelain, from opposing ends of the country are being sold by Dorset-based Charterhouse in its specialist April auctions.
Up first are more than 50 pictures by modern artists amassed over the past 20 years by a collector in Derbyshire.
They include works by artists including John Bratby, Dora Holtzhandler and Oscar Mellor. Varying in size and composition, the pictures are expected to total £30,000-40,000.
Also going under the gavel is a large collection of 18th century Chinese and Japanese porcelain from a deceased estate in Devon. The unique vases and bowls are expected to total £20,000-30,000 when they are entered into the Charterhouse Asian Art auction on Friday April 8.
Charterhouse founder Richard Bromell said: “As a business we travel up and down the country advising clients on their specialist antiques and collector’s items.
“Sometimes it can be as small as a piece of jewellery or large as a classic car, but whatever the items are they will be entered into a specialist sale to achieve the best possible price.”
