PEOPLE are being invited to take part in a run in Poole this evening, as part of fundraising efforts being made for Ukraine.

The Just Giving event was created by Dorset resident, Carol Baker, who is calling for people to take part in either a 5 mile or 5-kilometre run, with all proceeds going to the DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal.

Carol said: “We’re asking people to run or walk for Ukraine. We’ll all start off together but then we can separate and run our different distances. We’ll then meet at the end for cake.”

The run is set to start at 6.30pm this evening, and those wishing to take part should meet at Poole Park by The Ark Café at 6.15pm and wear blue and yellow clothing.

Carol said: “I have a colleague who is from Ukraine. She can’t work at the moment because her family is stuck there, and she is devastated.

“I thought: I can’t do anything for her, I can't stop a war but what I can do is show her we care.

“That was my main inspiration for this.”

The Just Giving page has already raised over £2,000 for Ukraine, and Carol hopes that the generosity will continue.

She said: “Initially I thought, if I raise £250 that would be great

“But then the amount started growing and growing. It’s fantastic.”

“Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for supporting this worthwhile cause.”
