A SEA of blue and yellow took over Bournemouth Square as people came together to protest against the conflict in Ukraine.

Dozens of people carried signs calling for the end of the conflict in Ukraine and for a closure of the airspace.

Children carried Ukrainian flags and chants were made to “save Ukrainian children”.

Bournemouth Echo:

Oleksandr Bezprozvanny, Ukrainian national, held a sign aloft reading: “Get your bloody hands off Ukraine”.

He said: “We are here to support our people in the struggle and the fight. We need a little more effort to stop this aggression against my peaceful, beautiful Ukraine.

“I think they need to consider to make a no flight zone. I understand that could provoke consequences but I cannot watch this, these civilian people suffering.

Bournemouth Echo:

“My first impulse was to run and search flights, then I started considering other options.

“This kind of thing helps a lot but it is very difficult. My father is in Ukraine.

“It’s amazing to see these people come together. It’s heart-warming. I can’t describe it, it’s the true side of humans.”

Bournemouth Echo:

Chants could also be heard to stop Putin, leave Ukraine alone and to stop war.

It comes 24 hours after a large group of people linked together at Boscombe pier in a human chain to show unity against the conflict in Ukraine.
