Officers from Dorset Police No Excuse also attended a crash near Corfe Castle involving a driver who had only passed his test 20 days earlier.

“The silver VW golf was seen to be parked on zig zags for a zebra crossing on old Christchurch Road, checks showed the driver hadn’t renewed his licence from previous offences. He will now attend court.

“Whilst on the stop check, the Hyundai went past, we shortly located this vehicle afterwards driving away from Bournemouth town centre, checks showed the driver was driving otherwise in accordance of a licence due to having a provisional licence and no insurance. Vehicle seized and driver reported to court.

“On our way back into the station, a Renault Clio came to our attention swerving along the road. We could see he was holding his mobile phone for maps.

“Vehicle stopped, driver admitted to holding his phone for maps, negative breathe test provided. Further checks on the vehicle showed MOT expired in January. A ticket was issued for all offences.”
