WITH what is going on around us in the world today, it should mean even more so that Britain should become self-sufficient in energy.

Whilst green issues have come to the fore in recent years and have provided a useful contribution energy wise, they cannot unfortunately be the complete solution.

To comply with the green agenda, we have seen massive investments in green issues, from cycleways, solar panels, windmills, and electric cars etc. All contributing greatly to the green agenda, regardless of efficacy or cost.

In the UK we have an abundant supply either on land or around the coast of oil, gas, and coal, we should be looking at ways of using new technology to extract these commodities and to use them cleanly.

Unfortunately, fossil fuels have gained a bad name over the years, certainly warranted if we look at past experiences and history.

However, now surely has come the time when we should be looking to the future and using fossil fuels, to enable us to do so we should be investing heavily in new technology so we can make use of fossil fuels in a cost effective, clean, and efficiently way.

We should be harmonising all methods of providing energy in the most cost-effective way with the emphasis on being pollution free.

Surely, at this point in time with investment and new technology it cannot be beyond us to do so.
