ALL of the donations Bournemouth MP Conor Burns receives are recorded in accordance with the rules, the politician's office has said.

Mr Burns, who represents Bournemouth West, was included on a list published on social media of Conservative politicians, who former Labour MP for Wrexham Ian Lucas claimed received "Russian-linked donations".

The reference to Mr Burns related to a declared £10,000 donation in January 2020 from Aquind Ltd, which was registered as "support linked to an MP but received by a local party organisation or indirectly via a central party organisation".

A number of other Conservatives MPs have declared donations from Aquind Ltd, the company wanting to install an electricity link across the Channel between England and France, including Jeremy Hunt, Dr Liam Fox and Alok Sharma.

Aquind Ltd's directors include Ukraine-born Tory donor Alexander Temerko, who released a statement last week which was critical of Russian president Vladimir Putin. The company is also part-owned by Russian-born Victor Fedotov.

The Daily Echo approached Mr Burns's office for comment about the donation and the list published on Twitter by Mr Lucas. In response, they said that all donations were recorded in accordance with the rules.

The statement released on Mr Temerko's website on Thursday, February 24, said: "Today, Putin’s thugs are assaulting the capital of my homeland – Kyiv.

"Fighting is ongoing along the whole border of Ukraine. Ukrainians, my brothers and sisters, are now defending their freedom and the freedom of Europe with their very lives. They are heroically defending their homes, their families and their choice of freedom and democracy. At the same time, they are fighting for peace for the whole of Europe.

"I am proud to be Ukrainian. I am glad that my second homeland, the United Kingdom, stands shoulder to shoulder in brotherly solidarity, and offers political, military, financial and humanitarian support to the Ukrainian people who fight our common enemy. I trust that the outcome of this war will result not in Ukraine’s overthrow, but rather Putin’s regime.

"I believe that this bloody war will not break Ukraine’s spirit, but will instead embolden the people of Ukraine and of the world to stand up to and destroy tyranny.

"By removing the yoke of Putin’s dictatorship, the Russian people should also have a chance to choose a path of democracy and freedom.

"I know that the truth and the judgment of history is with us. As the Bible says, “If God be for us, who can be against us?”
