A MAJOR multi-agency search was launched for a “high risk” missing person at Hengistbury Head.
Police, coastguard teams and the RNLI carried out the search on Tuesday evening at around 9.45pm.
The missing person was found in the area and taken to hospital by an ambulance waiting at the scene.
Around 17 coastguard volunteers were involved in the operation across Southbourne, Lymington and Poole Coastguard Rescue Teams.
RNLI Mudeford Lifeboat and “several” Dorset Police units also attended.
A spokesperson for Southbourne Coastguard said: “After a relatively short period of time our missing person was found, at which point we provided casualty care.
"We then stretchered the casualty some 600 metres on shingle to Double Dykes for transfer to an awaiting ambulance for onward transport to hospital.
"Mudeford Lifeboat was also standing by to help illuminate the area. Once the ambulance had left the scene we restowed our kit and returned to station.”
