A MAN has been fined by the courts for skipping a red light 3.3 seconds after it changed.
Geoffrey Edward Bennett, 57, admitted skipping a red light in Southend-On-Sea in Essex on March 2, 2021.
Bennett, from Station Road, Fordingbridge, was not present at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court when he was sentenced in February.
He admitted driving a Ford on the A127 Arterial Road and failing to comply with the indication given by a traffic sign, namely a red light.
Court papers state the defendant’s vehicle was recorded contravening the red traffic light 3.3 seconds after the signal had change.
Magistrates fined the 57-year-old £250 and ordered him to pay a victim surcharge of £34.
He was also ordered to pay £90 in costs and had his driving record endorsed with three points.
