BOURNEMOUTH nightclub Cameo has issued a statement after a man was left with life-threatening injuries following an assault at the venue.

The 20-year-old man from Sunbury-on-Thames was taken to hospital with a serious head injury following the incident at Vinyl club in Fir Vale Road at 1.32am on Sunday, February 27.

The victim fell to the floor during an altercation involving two men and remains in a life-threatening condition.

A spokesperson from Cameo said: "The safety of our guests is always our main priority; we are devastated by the events of Saturday night and our thoughts remain with the victim, his family and friends at this difficult time.

"We would like to stress that there is no place for behaviour of this kind in our venue and we are doing everything we can to support the police investigation so that justice is served.

On Monday, detectives issued a renewed appeal for information as they continue to investigate the incident.

Detective Inspector Mark Jenkins, of Bournemouth CID, said: “We know the nightclub was busy at the time of the incident and I would ask anyone who saw what happened and has not yet contacted Dorset Police to please come forward.

“I am also keen to hear from anyone who may have captured all or part of the incident on a mobile phone.”
