A DOG has been rescued firefighters after falling down a second-floor chimney breast and into a cellar.
One crew from Poole Fire Station was called at 5.38pm on Wednesday to an address in West Street, Corfe Castle, following reports that a dog had fallen more than two floors down a chimney breast and was stuck.
Accompanied by a single officer, the crew created an opening into the chimney stack and used a ‘dog catcher’ tool to reach the dog and pull it out of the chimney.
The dog was eventually freed and left in the care of its owners who were advised to contact the vets. Crews left the property at approximately 7pm.
Dorset & Wiltshire Fire Service was unable to confirm the circumstances of how the dog came to fall down the chimney.
