A MAN has been rescued after becoming trapped under a 40ft tree which had fallen in Wareham.
Witnesses reported seeing two fire engines and two ambulances race down East Street in Wareham this afternoon on their way to an incident in North Bestwall Drive.
A Dorset & Wiltshire Fire Service spokesperson said: “We were called to North Bestwall Drive, Wareham at 12.51pm to help ambulance with a casualty who had been trapped under a 40ft tree.
“Two crews attended, from Wareham and Bere Regis, and saws were used to cut away branches and free the man. Our stop was at 1.42pm. The gentleman was taken to hospital as a precaution.”
A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service added: “We were called at 12.44 to an incident in Wareham. We sent two double-crewed land ambulances and conveyed one patient by land ambulance to Poole Hospital.”
