MODELS for Heroes, a charity model making group, will be attending the South West model show this weekend at the Tank Museum, Bovington.

The museum, which boasts a collection of over 300 tanks, will be opening its doors from 9am to 5pm and visitors can attend specialist talks and tours, explore unique models and even have a go themselves.

Malcolm Childs started the charity five years ago and it now has over 140 volunteers offering face to face sessions.

He said: “Models for Heroes are delighted to have been invited back to the Tank Museum to celebrate the positive benefits of the wholesome, traditional hobby of model making with the Tank Museum’s visitors.

“Where better to build your favourite tank, surrounded by your favourite tanks?”

Exhibiting alongside many other model clubs, Models for Heroes will be offering free model making sessions in return for a donation.

Contributions to Models for Heroes will help fund their activities which support the Armed Forces and Emergency Service personnel, as well as allowing them to attend more events around the country.

Tickets for the South West model show are available on the Tank Museum’s website.
