A MAN was left with a puncture wound and bruising after being bitten by a dog while jogging in Poole.

At around 7.45am on Monday, February 7, the victim, a man in his 50s, was jogging in Higher Blandford Road – on the loop near to Broadstone Golf Course – when he came across a man walking his dog off the lead.

The dog, believed to be a brown Labradoodle, launched itself at the victim and bit him on the torso, causing a puncture wound and bruising.

The owner of the dog is described as white, aged in his late 40s to early 50s, around six feet tall and of stocky build with a short greying beard. He was wearing a grey beanie hat, a wax-type Barbour-style jacket and spoke with a local accent.

He reportedly apologised after the incident, but the victim did not take his details and only realised the extent of his injury when he returned home.

Officers investigating the incident are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

Police Constable Jennie Sykes-Martin, of Dorset Police, said: “We understand the victim apologised after the incident and we are keen to speak to him so we can take his account of what happened.

“I would urge anyone with information about the dog owner involved to please contact us.”
