Police are investigating after reports a woman was sexually assaulted in a Bournemouth park.

Officers launched an investigation into the alleged incident in Redhill Park at around 6.15pm on Friday, February 11, with a man arrested in connection with the matter.

It was reported that the female victim was with a man who was known to her at the playpark when she was sexually assaulted by him.

Following enquiries by detectives, a 19-year-old Bournemouth man was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault. He has been released on police bail as detectives carry out further enquiries.

Detectives investigating the sexual assault are appealing for a potential witness and anyone with information to come forward.

Detective Constable Emma Jeffries, of Bournemouth CID, said: “We are continuing to carry out a detailed investigation into this matter and the victim is being supported by specially-trained officers.

“I am appealing for anyone with information that might assist our investigation to please come forward. I am particularly keen to speak to a woman who was seen to walk past the playpark at the time of this incident, as she may have important information that will assist our enquiries.”
