VOTED as one of the best cafe in the New Forest area, according to TripAdvisor reviews, a lot of people have been talking about the Saltwater cafe.

Boasting 250 five star reviews, the cafe is situated in the bustling seaside village of Milford on Sea.

Opened nearly six years ago in a building previously used as a bakery and a hardware store, the cafe can be found on the High Street, just off the village green and on the way to the nature reserve at Keyhaven and Henry VIII artillery fortress Hurst Castle, both with stunning sea views towards Christchurch Harbour and across to the Isle of Wight.

Saltwater specialises in breakfast, lunches, vegan and gluten free meals, creating their own twist on dishes using local premium ingredients.

Anthony Michael told the Bournemouth Daily Echo: “We make almost everything on site, each meal is prepared to order and therefore we can adapt our meals for the customer. We source our ingredients from local suppliers where possible and try to create dishes that are different from other cafe/restaurant menus.

“We are extremely proud of our cafe and the TripAdvisor achievement.

“Customers come back for the atmosphere, friendly team, Covid safe environment and quality of the food and drinks.

“We hope that people can see that we enjoy our job. It’s lovely to have people returning.”

The menu offers the likes of avocado on toast and breakfast pan for breakfast and crab cake, sushi bowl and halloumi and mushroom burger for lunch, as well as a selection of cakes, including the delicious brownies pictured above.

During lockdown, when they were only able to operate on a takeaway basis, staff served Caribbean and Mexican meals most weekends, as well as delivering cakes, afternoon teas and grazing boxes.

A dog friendly venue, Saltwater is also licensed so can be hired for private parties, supper evenings and celebrations. Staff can provide outside catering for other events too.

Customers are advised to book a table in advance as the cafe can get quite busy, especially on glorious days.
