MORE details have been released ahead of the return of the popular Highcliffe Food and Arts Festival this year.
Taking place on Saturday, June 11, and Sunday, June 12, the event, which started in 2015, will once again be held throughout the village centre in Lymington Road and on the Recreation Ground.
Several Dorset companies are supporting the event as sponsors, with the headline sponsor being Highcliffe Residents Association.
Ian Hartnell Chairman of Highcliffe Residents Association said: “We are very proud indeed to support this year’s Food and Arts Festival.
“This event is pivotal in bringing not only a much-needed boost to businesses in Highcliffe but also to raise the profile of our village as a vibrant and welcoming community.”
Financial support is also being provided by 18 organisations including Highcliffe and Walkford Parish Council, BCP Council, Christchurch Harbour Hotel, Jackson Developments and Kiteley’s Solicitors.
Founder and co-chair Mary Reader said: “Our team of directors and committee are so grateful to Highcliffe Residents Association, BCP and the Parish Council for their support and to so many local businesses who giving financial help.
“The festival is a free-to-attend event, but we as organisers have a huge amount of expenditure to cover.”
More than 120 traders have already been confirmed with more to follow, covering not only artisan food and drink but also a huge range of specially curated crafts from The Little Craft Shack.
This feature will be styled as ‘Crafts on the Green’ and will be found on the Recreation Ground.
The cookery theatre, sponsored by the Christchurch Harbour Hotel, will feature celebrity chefs Jean-Christophe Novelli and the very popular Dorset-based Lesley Waters.
Also joining them will be Alex Aitken and the team from Christchurch Harbour Hotel and the Jetty restaurant and Christchurch born James Golding, chef director of the Pig Group of hotels who is also becoming well known for his many TV appearances.
Two music stages placed at either end of the festival will offer a wide range of artistes including performances for children by Tom Franck as the Rocket Man, and Little Gizmos.
There will be plenty for all the family with children’s craft workshops, a treasure hunt and the return of the ‘Grow Your Own’ tent featuring ‘Highcliffe in Bloom.’
Special emphasis this year will be to support ‘Plastic Free Highcliffe’ with all stall holders having been asked to bring along compostable containers and cutlery.
