VIOLENCE and sexual offences was the highest reported crime in December, despite an overall drop in rates for yet another month.

According to the latest figures from police.uk there were a total of 3,068 crimes reported across the conurbation in the last month of 2021.

December’s crime rate was less than that of previous months which saw reported crime rates fall month on month - in November there were 3,388 reported crimes.

Violence and sexual offences is the most reported crime

Violence and sexual offences was the most reported crime across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole in December - with reports for anti-social behaviour (previously the most reported crime) continuing to fall. 

With Christmas parties cancelled and many people staying in due to the rising Omicron variant in December, it is no surprise that reports of anti-social behaviour continued to drop significantly to 737 - in November there were 1,058 incidents of anti-social behaviour reported to the police.

The most reported crime was violence and sexual offences with 1,041. 

Across the conurbation the third highest crime was criminal damage and arson which received 252 reports.

Vehicle crime (239), other theft (207) and other theft (207) all received similar rates of reports throughout December in the BCP council area.

The lowest reported crimes were theft from a person (16), possession of weapons (13) and robbery (17).

Bournemouth saw a total of 1,848 reports, Christchurch received 248 and Poole had 972 crimes reported in December 2021.
