This fascinating photo was sent in by reader Norman Loveridge of the old kilns of Dorset Clay Products in Upton.
The three tall chimney stacks used to be visible for miles and for over a hundred years, clay products, predominately bricks but as this picture shows clay pipes were among the many products produced from the clay and fired in the continuous kilns.
The site closed in 1968 due to the high cost of coal for firing the kilns.
