WIMBORNE’S popular Pancake Race is set to return next month after a year’s absence.

The event, which sees participants make their way around The Minster Church of St. Cuthgurga armed with their frying pans, will take place on Shrove Tuesday.

Anthony Oliver from Wimborne Minster said: “The venue is, as always, outside the main north porch entrance to the Minster, and the first race will commence at 11am as the Pancake Bell is tolled.

“Competitors will be required to run round the Minster tossing their pancakes at the four corners of the church. If wet the event takes place within The Minster

“So have we some challengers to win the ‘John Loader Memorial Cup’, presented by Martyn and Kathy Curtler and become the Minster Pancake Champion 2022?”

The winner will also receive a prize presented by Dorset View & Viewpoint to whom we are most grateful.

There will also be races for the under 18’s, pre-schoolers and toddlers and those using wheelchairs, with prizes awarded to the winners of each category.

No. 9 On the Green will have pancakes to purchase for everyone to enjoy both before and after the races. They will also be providing some prizes for the under 18’s.
