A MAN has avoided a ban after driving at nearly 90mph in a 50mph zone.
Callum Luke Piper, 24, of Bridges Close, West Moors, pleaded guilty to exceeding the 50mph speed limit and was sentenced at Weymouth Magistrates’ Court on February 1.
The defendant admitted driving a Ford on the A31 Trunk Road on February 12, 2021, at 87mph, exceeding the 50mph limit.
Magistrates fined him £300, ordered him to pay a victim surcharge of £34 and costs of £110. His driving record was endorsed with six points.
Court papers show he was not disqualified from driving, due to the impact it would have on his family whom he supports, as well as his nephew who he takes to nursery and aiding his elderly grandparents.
