OVER 70 vehicles attended a “good natured” charity car meet in Blandford last night to help raise awareness for mental health.

Members of the Dorset Police No Excuse team were present at the meet on Saturday February 5 at the Tesco Superstore car park in Stour Park.

The meet, named ‘Motors for Mind’, was set up in support of the mental health charity Dorset Mind.

Although organisers worked with police to minimise anti-social behaviour, one vehicle was seen leaving the car park recklessly and received a ticket from officers.

A spokesman from the Dorset Police No Excuse team said: “After speaking to the organisers, who weren’t expecting such a huge turnout, they said they wanted to arrange a meet for those struggling with mental health.

“The meet was all good natured with organisers having a strict policy in place regarding anti-social behaviour and driving at these events. This was good to see.

“We can report only one vehicle received a ticket. They were witnessed by officers leaving the car park anti-socially.

“A unit waiting outside the car park stopped the vehicle and the driver received a section 59 notice.”
