THE number of people with Covid is slowly starting to rise again across BCP and Dorset.

While there are no areas within the highest bracket of Covid case rates on an interactive map on the government website, huge swathes of the county have recorded rates between 800 and 1,599 per 100,000 people.

The highest bracket on the government website are areas with rates above 1,600. 

In the seven days to January 30, there were a total of 4,428 cases across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole, giving a case rate of 1,115.4 per 100,000 people.

The number of cases were up 9.6 per cent on the previous week.

During the same period in the Dorset Council area, there were 3,668 cases at a rate of 965.8 with cases up 7.2 per cent.

The average case rate for the UK in the week to January 30 was 986.

Areas with the highest increase in Covid cases

Some areas have seen significant rises in infections.

These are the areas that saw the biggest increases in the seven days to January 30.

Lyme Regis, Charmouth and Marshwood Vale – 115.6 per cent rise in cases, from 32 to 69

West Verwood – 107.5 per cent rise in cases, from 53 to 110

Westham North & Radipole – 58.7 per cent rise in cases from 63 to 100

Corfe Mullen – 57.4 per cent rise in cases from 94 to 148

Beaminster, Maiden Newton and Halstock – 54.4 per cent rise in cases from 68 to 105

Ferndown West and Canford Bottom – 54.3 per cent rise in cases from 46 to 71

Jumpers Common & Fairmile – 53.6 per cent rise in cases from 69 to 106

East Verwood – 51.7 per cent rise in cases, from 58 to 88

Merley – 50.8 per cent rise in cases from 59 to 89

Kinson East – 48.2 per cent rise in cases from 56 to 83
