COUNCIL officials say a popular dog walking spot has been checked after claims the site is 'unsafe'.

A local resident says her dog 'vomits every night' after visiting the park at Slades Farm.

She said: "BCP have recently filled in the holes in the dog park at Slades Farm with a mixture of manure and general rubbish.

"One dog has developed conjunctivitis from the rubbish and cow manure mix they have used.

"My dog vomits every night after visiting there so it's the same for us too as we can't visit anymore because of the negligent behaviour of BCP.

"It is only a matter of time before dogs are seriously injured or ill because of the mixture of rubbish used.

"The dogs have dug up broken glass from the stinking mixture and also a steel wire today."

The resident posted her experiences in a local Facebook group where other owners confirmed that they have been having issues in the park.

A BCP Council spokesperson said: “The dog training area at Slades Farm is a popular area for dog owners.

"It’s necessary to regularly fill the holes in the enclosure and we use compostable green waste which is screened.

"The area has since been checked in response to concerns raised by a resident.”
