A CAR was found abandoned on a "dangerous" bend in the New Forest.

A vehicle was found abandoned locked, secure and stuck in a verge on a dangerous bend in Alderholt Road, by New Forest police.

Police were nearby locating and seizing a quantity of garden power tools with enquiries ongoing to trace owners.

Seat belts in the vehicle were pre-buckled to allow occupants to decamp quickly from the car if they were challenged, a tactic Police say is often used by persons committing crime.

The vehicle was searched with the nearside window broken to gain entry. Due to causing a dangerous obstruction, the vehicle was recovered at the owner’s expense.

A Ringwood Police spokesperson said: “We are asking the owner to contact Ringwood Police on 101 to discuss recovery and assist with investigations on both sides on Hampshire Dorset border.

“Ringwood team will continue to patrol the area in the early hours to protect rural communities and catch and convict offenders.”

If you know someone breaking into garages, shops or businesses in Ringwood, Burley Fordingbridge, Bransgore or Christchurch areas call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
