A MAN has been fined £400 for breaking boat rules in Lymington Harbour.

Sam Lloyd, aged 33, was accused of navigating a rigid inflatable boat at a speed exceeding six knots on or about July 3 last year.

It was also alleged that he navigated or manoeuvred the vessel in a manner or at a speed so as to cause wash to be generated that may cause damage to or endanger the safety of other people, vessels or property.

The matter was taken to court by Lymington Harbour Commissioners.

Lloyd, whose address was given as Fullerton Road, Lymington, pleaded guilty to both offences in breach of the Lymington Harbour General Directions 2014 at a Southampton Magistrates' Court hearing on Friday, January 14.

Along with the fine, the defendant was ordered to pay a £60 surcharge and £200 costs.
