SKYGAZERS were treated to an incredible view of the first full moon of 2022 over Dorset on Monday night.
January’s full moon, named the Wolf Moon, didn’t disappoint as clear skies meant the spectacle was on full show.
It is named so because of hungry wolves howling due to lack of food in the midwinter.
Some Native Americans named this the Old Moon; others called it the Ice Moon.
Photographers captured some wonderful images of the sight including members of the Echo Camera Club Dorset on Facebook.

The next full moon is the full Snow Moon which will occur on Wednesday, February 16, 2021. It will be the first full moon of Lunar New Year 2022.
A full moon occurs every 29.5 days and is when the Moon is completely illuminated by the Sun's rays. It occurs when the Earth is directly aligned between the Sun and the Moon.
