A MAN has been banned from a large part of Boscombe after harassing his victim with homophobic remarks.

Timothy Robert Tinton, aged 42, appeared in the dock at Poole Magistrates' Court on Friday, January 14 accused of two offences.

Tinton, whose address was given as Windsor Road, Bournemouth, pleaded guilty to charges of harassment without violence and racially or religiously aggravated harassment, alarm or distress by words or writing.

The court heard the first matter related to the defendant's conduct between August 1 and September 20 last year, which amounted to the harassment of a man, with him making a number of vile homophobic remarks.

The second offence took place on September 18, 2021, in Bournemouth.

District Judge Stephen Nicholls issued a community order, which involved a requirement to follow an overnight curfew for six weeks.

The defendant was also handed a 12-month restraining order. This stipulated that he must not contact the two victims or enter the Sovereign Centre, the pedestrianised precinct in Christchurch Road and Sea Road, as well as a marked out area of Boscombe.

Tinton was ordered to pay £100 compensation to each victim and a £150 fine.
