AN area of Dorset saw a 75 per cent jump in Covid cases in a week, according to latest figures.
Data on the government website shows that Merley saw 43 new infections in the seven days to December 28.
The total number of people testing positive rose to 100 in total, giving a rate of 1,629.7 per 100,000 people.
On the government map, the country is split up by Middle Super Output Areas (MSOA), which are small areas with an average population of 7,200, and the data is updated each weekday, with the map showing the last seven days for which complete data is available.

Places with the highest MSOA rate appear on the map appear in black.
Merley is currently the only area across the whole of Dorset appearing in black on the interactive map.
The previous week in Merley, there were 57 cases with a rate of 928.9.
Most locations across Dorset are currently showing with a case rate between 800 and 1,599 per 100,000 people.
Elsewhere, West Moors had a 73 per cent rise in cases from 34 to 59. The latest rate stands at 773.4.
Ferndown West & Canford Bottom recorded 46 cases and a rate of 697.5. There was a 53 per cent jump in the number of cases on the previous week.
Meanwhile, East Cliff saw cases fall 23 per cent from 129 to 99, resulting in a rate of 756.4.
During the same period, Bridport South & West Bay had the lowest case rate in the county at 345.3 with a total of 19 infections.
