POLICE have deployed drones in an effort to crackdown on motorcyclists using a heath in Poole as a "race track".

Culprits have been warned that they will be dealt "robustly" if caught breaking the law.

Poole Neighbourhood Policing Team officers have been carrying out targeted patrols with assistance from colleagues in the force support group drone team.

This came after repeated reports of "nuisance motorbikes using the heathland as a race track".

The drone use through Op Heathland on Saturday and Sunday was part of an effort to tackle the criminal behaviour.

A Poole Police spokesperson said: "We will continue to use our powers to enforce the law and deal with persistent offenders, who will be reported to court and vehicles seized.

"This heathland is not a playground for motorbikes and offenders will be dealt with robustly."
