A BOY from Blandford has continued his fundraising venture by hosting a charity walk for miniature Dachshunds and other small dogs.

Max Painter held his fourth sponsored walk for Stour Valley Dog Rescue on Sunday November 14 at Badbury Rings.

Having now accumulated nearly 20,000 followers through his social media account he shares with his miniature dachshunds Stanley and Mabel, Max managed to raise more than £1,000, with most of the funds coming through his Instagram account.

Max’s mum Vicky said: “We do it at the same place because Max is familiar with it and each time it boosts his confidence.

“Lots of the people have attended all four to show their support and can’t believe the difference in Max from the first one to now.

“One person messaged me after the walk saying ‘we can’t believe how much Max has grown in confidence. He was so chatty, and it’s been great to see him progress’.”

Max, Stanley and Mabel have now helped to raise over £3,500 for Stour Valley Dog Rescue through their four walks.

At his first fundraising walk in March 2020 a dozen people attended. And at the latest event, 50 people and 30 sausage dogs joined in on the recent two-hour circular route around Badbury Rings.

“Max has gone from a scared shy and nervous little boy who was too afraid to even get out the car on his first walk to now leading the way full of confidence,” added Vicky.

"He loves his own dogs so much he loves to do whatever he can to help ones in need.

“He especially likes to help rehome the older dogs as he worry’s they don’t have long left and wants to find them a loving home for their last few years.”

Max’s next walk will not be until the new year, with a date yet to be confirmed.
