A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of assault and criminal damage after an incident at a mosque in Bournemouth town centre.
Dorset Police received a report at 6.33am on Wednesday December 1, 2021, of a man acting aggressively at the Bournemouth Islamic Centre and Central Mosque in St Stephens Road.
It was further reported that criminal damage was caused to a door.
A police spokesperson said: “Officers attended and a man was arrested on suspicion of assault and criminal damage. He is assisting officers with their enquiries.
“There were no reports of any injuries that required medical treatment. Enquiries into the incident are ongoing.
“Officers from the local neighbourhood policing team have been carrying out reassurance patrols in the area and will continue to be present during prayer times.”
Officers were seen stationed outside the centre on Wednesday evening.
