A WOMAN has been interviewed by police in connection with an investigation into an alleged serious assault in Gillingham - which is said to have left a man with spinal and face injuries.

It was reported that between 11.30pm on Friday, October 8, and 12.30am on Saturday, October 9, an alleged serious assault occurred in an alleyway near to the Red Lion pub in the High Street.

Around 10 men and women, believed to be aged between 18 and 21-years-old, were all reportedly involved in an assault on two men.

Police say one of the victims, a man aged in his 30s from Bristol, sustained two spinal fractures and a serious injury to his face.

His friend, also from Bristol, sustained minor injuries.

Following a CCTV appeal, an 18-year-old woman from Shaftesbury has come forward in connection with the incident and has been interviewed by detectives.

She has since been released under investigation while further enquiries are carried out by Dorset Police.

Police are still appealing for anyone with information relating to the incident to come forward and report it.
