AN INVESTIGATION is underway to identify a man who inappropriately touched and made lewd comments towards a woman in Bournemouth earlier this month.

Between 9.05pm and 9.20pm on Tuesday November 16 a woman was approached by a man in the Lower Gardens, who had reportedly been following her for a while.

The victim and man had a conversation, before it was reported that he touched her on her knee. He also made sexual comments toward her.

The man eventually walked away after the victim did not engage further. 

The incident was reported to Dorset Police on Monday November 22.

Officers investigating the incident have issued CCTV images of a man they would like to speak to.

Police Constable Olivia Holt, of Bournemouth police, said: “A detailed investigation is underway to establish the full circumstances of the incident.

“As part of my enquiries, I have obtained CCTV images of a man I would like to speak to. I would ask anyone who recognises him to please get in touch.

“I understand there may have been people working in the vicinity at the time of incident installing the ice rink and I would urge anyone who may have witnessed what happened to come forward.

“I fully appreciate that this incident may cause concern for the community. Officers from the local neighbourhood policing team will be patrolling the area and can be approached by any member of the public."
